PhD Cinema and Media Studies
I am a digital media scholar whose work focuses on the social, aesthetic, political, and public impacts of apps and web platforms. I study livestreaming, influencers, television, video games, and internet cultures.
I am currently Adjunct Assistant Professor of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations in The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication atHofstra University. There I teach social media, technology, and policy, media literacy, and mass media and society.
I received my PhD in cinema and media studies and doctoral certificate in science and technology studies from the University of Southern California.
My interdisciplinary dissertation, “We’re All Streamers Now,” focused on the uses and transformations of livestreaming platforms in the 21st century. In recognition of my dissertation’s originality and contribution, I received the 2024-2025 Annenberg Endowed Fellowship from from the Univeristy of Southern California to complete and successfully defend my dissertation.
I received my MA in cinema and media studies from USC and my BA in anthropology from the University at Buffalo. Before academia, I spent several years working in the nonprofit sector.
